Children in other Countries find metal in landfills to recycle to get money /cash/funds to eat/go to school their parents are usually the people recycling the material some also do certain plastics/tires the equipment is usually faulty & puts dangerous chemicals into tge atmosphere there are machine we could use to recycle old plastics that would not put the chemicals into the atmosphere as well as getting rid of all the useless plastic we pay China Billions a year to “get rid of” there is sn island in the ocean miles long of the material we are finding plastics in babies bloodstreams being born as well as marine life being affected in several ways throughout their lifespan…The amount of waste being produced is getting out of hand there are several areas in several Countries we paid to recycle these plastics off islands we the USA paid through USAID to do this …something needs to change!!! We also need to stop manufacturing ANY MEDICAL SUPPLIES/Equipment MADE IN OTHER COUNTRIES DID WE NOT LEARN DURING COVID??
Your policy is “Ban plastics”?
Just a universal ban on all plastic products?
Ironically, there was a post earlier this week on X/Twitter that provides a cold hard fact… “95% of all the plastic in the world’s seas and oceans comes from 10 rivers, 2 of which are in Africa and the rest are in Asia…”

Yet the world Government is quick to give African and Southern Asian countries a pass when it comes to environmental regulations. Instead of banning plastic, let’s force those countries that are doing the polluting to be held to the same standards the Americas and Europe are held to.
Our biggest problem with plastic is the recycling chain. Much of the waste plastic that is turned in for recycling ends up going to China/India for processing. I have a 3D Printer, and produce some waste plastic (which I can obviously sort by type) but my only option for recycling is to pay a specialty recycler (and then pay them again to buy the output of the process - effectively making the cost more than double what I can buy “virgin” new plastic.)
OF COURSE it does… ![]()
Because what sense would it make to recycle that plastic here in America where it comes from? /sarcasm
