You clearly are not educated on dogs. First of all the term “PITBULL” is a blanket term for about 4 different breeds of dogs. You are basing it on looks not the individual dog which is discrimination. I love these dogs. I am a volunteer at a local animal shelter, A petcare professional and a dog mom. I do not agree with your propaganda and I will fight it.

Totally agree with you! I have always owned pit bulls and never have I owned an aggressive one. My dogs were trained right. The only aggressive behavior would come if you messed with my babies. These dogs were actually bread to be caretakers not fighting as most presume. They are a strong breed and many take that and run with it and train them to be just that a strong scary dog. Any dog in the hands of an unstable person will be an unstable dog.

I’m glad that I’m not the only one who knows these dogs were bread to be caretakers. Every Pitt bull I’ve owned has watched over my children like hawks. Has removed them from danger and protected them when needed. Never shown aggression unless necessary and loved everyone. Not one person was scared to enter my home unless they had bad intentions.

You are speaking made up facts. How about you research and educate yourself on reliable sources before saying such ridiculous things.
Just like any dog you need to be RESPONSIBLE, do training without painful tools and method’s, etc.
You judge a dog on the individual not an entire breed or based on looks.

I respectfully disagree. Bull Dogs and Pit bulls in the right environment and bred properly are very good dogs.
Yes sometimes the are dogs that have been bred wrong and come out with anger issues and it doesn’t matter if they have a good life sometimes they’re just not good.
More often bad dogs are created from bad experiences and environments. The people who are responsible should not be allowed to own or care for animals.
The only reason the death and injury rate of these kind of dogs is so high is because they are bigger and stronger animals. But have you seen dogs like a Chihuahua? Most (not all) are little balls of spite who would happily kill you and your entire family if they weren’t the size of a water bottle.
The only reason I’m saying this is because there are bad apples but that doesn’t make all of them bad. You may have had a bad experience or 2 with some of these breeds but that doesn’t mean that they should be banned from everyone else. That just means that you don’t have to get one for yourself. So respectfully I disagree with this point.

With that logic, Most human races should be banned and sterilized as well.
I own 3 pits and ive never had an issue. We have 3 pits as your calling them and 5 cats. Tell me how pit bulls are so dangerous? Ive been bitten and attacked by more chihuahuas and small breeds than I ever have a pit bull. Just like a gun, its not the dogs fault, its the owners, its not the guns fault its the operators!!!
Its almost like anything thats powerful in the name of defence, is a threat. Its simple, dont trespass on our property, dont assault us in front of our dogs, dont allow your dogs off leash if your scared of pits, or go to a dog park if your so worried. Disgraceful that you think you can control what kind of pet someone can own.
Your base is running on emotions and propaganda. You do realize “Pit bull type” includes small breed dogs, hunting dogs, actual working breeds correct? Its not one dog that looks like your propaganda.
I can tell you now, we wont give our children aka pit bulls as you call them, up without fight.

As a pit bull owner myself and someone who has fostered hundreds of dogs since college (95% being a bully breed mix of some sort) I’ve not had any issues. I completely agree that any dog that bites and shows aggression towards humans, and is deemed dangerous should be euthanized, regardless of breed.
I strongly believe leash laws should be in great effect and punished more severely. I once had an off leash dog attempt to attack my pit mix. I live in a town with a horrible stray problem and I believe a lot can be done to help that including offering reduced cost spay and neuters and regulating/fining back yard breeders.
There are dogs with far stronger bites than pit bulls but regardless I don’t think any breed should be band on a blanket band. I believe it should be a case by case basis.

One thing I’ve noticed from being raised with these dogs is it all depends on the owner and how they are trained. I believe for those types of dogs people need to be evaluated before they can get them. I have a pit-bull cane corso and you can ask everyone he knows and they will tell you he is the biggest baby and he is super sweet to all ages of people. I’m not mad about you’re comment at all but just thought I’d explain more on those dogs from my experience.

It is not the breed of animal that is the issue, it is the owner. Discriminating against one specific breed is extremely backwards and all it does is spread ignorance.

Actually Pitties are one of the most loving breeds around…I have 3 and have never had an issue…these dogs are around small children, other dogs, and cats…all dogs have the ability to bite not just this breed…I am so tired of people blaming the breed instead of the owners…Owners are the ones that need to be held accountable…there needs to be stiffer penalties not just for bad owners but abusers as well…banning the breed isn’t the issue.So that’s a no from me…I won’t let you turn us into the UK.

No since there is no breed called a pitbull. What you think is a pitbull can be any number of breeds or mutts with square heads. How many wild animals have killed people and I guarantee it’s more. This is ridiculous, Staffordshires and bully breeds include bulldogs and then also English bulldogs who couldn’t catch a ball, never mind kill you. How about ban dog fighting or breeders who breed for dog fighting instead?
And those are pretty low numbers for the 340 million people in the USA, proving my point. I’ve been in the canine sector for decades and this subject always is from people who are afraid of them or have had a run in with badly trained dogs. I got bit by a Mini Schnauzer, a Bassett Hound and a Australian dog in my life and don’t seek to ban the breeds.
That doesn’t seem right for the mixed breed babies out there that does not have a mean bone in their bodies. I feel like the people that want a pet should go through classes on how to train them and care for them and have documents to show before they can get a pet.
Pit bulls are not the problems. The owner is the problem. I own a pit bull and she is the sweetest couch potato you will ever meet. I trust her around other dogs and people more than I trust my elderly lab. She is afraid of her own shadow and wouldnt hurt a fly. She is my emotional support dog as well. If anyone came and tried to take her from me it would destroy me. Banning pitties isnt the solution. Stopping the dog fighting and horrible treatment of them is. And honestly 307 deaths over a 22 year period is not bad. Does it suck that anyone died this way? Yes! But there are bigger fish to fry. Like the fact that 22 veterans commit suicide everyday. EVERYDAY!
