I respectfully disagree with the outright banning of a particular breed of dog. I’m sorry, but I cannot get behind this cause.
People get this breed of dog and then abandon them when they move, since homeowners and multi-family complex’s don’t allow them or the deposit is huge and non-refundable, these dogs are left behind, There is a mass amount of pitty-mix dogs everywhere dying in the streets or being used for illegal dog fights, and in turn they use kittens and puppies for bait in these dog fights. End the breeding please,
Also going to point out that animals sense human emotions so they will react if you are reacting to them. They are sentient beings. I am an animal communicator so I communicate with all animals with their permission in assisting them with behavior issues, relocating them through conversation, finding out more about them like if they’ve lived with me before and so on. Do pit bulls like what humans have done to them? No. Do most animals like what humans are doing to them? No. So everything with human behavior regarding animals has to change.
More like ban bad owners of dogs. They are not terrorizing homes and neighborhoods across the country. There are no bad dogs, just bad owners.
I Don’t agree about banning these dogs. I don’t own one…but friends and family do. ALL of them are sweet cuddle babies…Yes they think they are lap dogs. I’ve always had a Nurture vs Nature mindset. That’s for Humans too. Teach, kindness, Show Love, respect. Children who are raised with animals and taught proper can give back. Animals too.
Anyone who harms, hits, hurts, neglects animals should be banned. President Trump had Already made Animal Abuse a Felony.
Do you know how many animals are mixed with Pit bulls? Are you trying to ban pure breed pitties or all?
Cause I’m not putting my mixed breed pit down simply cause it’s less than 25% of her DNA
Well i found my first ignorant policy on here…i was a vet tech and i worked in a doggy daycare for over 7 years…dog behavior is the product of how an owner raises the dog. Do more unbiased research when you stereotype breeds…or call and talk to a veterinarian.
I think that it should be just changed to ownership comes with the responsibility to train and control the dog.
Pitbulls are literally banned in a lot of countries because of how dangerous they are. I would never want to euthanize an animal but breeding should be banned. The pit problem would be gone in 10 years.
Banned in: UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Spain, Hong Kong, and many more.
I am a Pitbull owner, he is 12. He is not aggressive at all. Loves all kids and people. He has saved a rabbit and opossum stuck in our fence. He is a big baby with a big heart. He is very protective and will guard our home and yard. He has never been aggressive in any way, he does not deserve to be banned or killed!!! Perhaps look at the owners of the 307, maybe some of those or most were protecting their owners?? I do not agree with your opinion in any way, sorry.
I agree something needs to be done, however, if you ban Pitbulls you must also ban German Shepherds, Rottweilers, and Boxers.
And are you suggesting only banning pure breeds? What percentage of the makeup of the dog condemns it to be classified a Pitbull anyway?
And surely, such a ban must allow existing dog owners to obtain a birth certificate stating that it predates any ban and therefore is legal.
I will be voting down this ridiculous, despicable post. The purpose of giving us the opportunity to propose bills as U.S. citizens is to LIMIT government in our lives! I have 2 pitbulls who are the sweetest. I’ve only had pitbulls as pets! We don’t ban domesticated pets in the U.S. a disgrace of a post
Too bad Karen, they’re staying
This is ridiculous. I own a rescue pit bull. They are super sweet friendly pets that love children and other animals. People are the reason a dog is mean. They torture them to make them scared and afraid of humans. It is NOT the dogs fault. Anyone that has actually done research on this topic would knowthat.
Absolutely disagree. I have a pure breed pitbull and he’s the sweetest thing. You have to train dogs like children. You can’t let them get away with whatever they do. They need discipline and guidance
- Pitbull isn’t a breed. It is a monicor to describe the visual appearance of many terrier breeds.
- American Staffordshire terriers/bull terriers have constantly passed the AKC temperament test with flying colors beating breeds such as golden retrievers.
- American Staffordshire terriers/bull terriers are not uniquely qualified for exceptional violence. They are equally as capable of violence as ANY other breed.
- All BSL is based off of either racism and/or ignorance.
- Over 70% of “pitbulls” recovered from dog fighting operations make full recoveries and end up being adopted into loving families.
- The “they were bred for fighting” has as much value as dachshunds being bred for catching rabbits does. You don’t see a genocide of rabbits from dachshunds do you?
- The level of violence is equal to a popularity of purchase. You have a popularity of mass shootings with AR styled rifles because they are popular. If the same people mistreating and/or training “pitbulls” for violence purchased German Sheppards, the metrics would be almost the same.
- Typical reason for “pitbull” violence is found in inbreeding. A common side effect of inbreeding is brain growth. The brain continues to grow and swell in the scull, creating aggressive tendencies. Very similar to the side effect of getting a massive concussion.
- ANY animal could be bred to be violent. That’s how we made dogs in the first place. We bred wolves with certain temperaments in desire for a specific desired behavior. What you want to ban is unlicensed, untrained individuals from breeding dogs and training them.
- I personally helped recover some of Michael Vick’s dogs TWICE and was never attacked, harmed or even growled at by any of the dogs and most of them ended up adopted and lived happy lives. You have no idea what you’re talking about and are making an opinion based off ill begotten fear. I get it, I was attacked by a German Sheppard when I was a child and feared them until my 20s. I got over it and now own one.
Their temperament is all according to how they are raised, and what they are introduced to as a puppy. There are more responsible dog owners than not. If a dog bites someone it because their owner did a bad job in training them, introducing people/situations and limiting their experiences of the world around them. Or they were trained for protection, and the owner did a poor job of securing their dog. Or the dog did what it was trained to do.
With the whole Peanut the Squirrel situation going viral you have to understand that youre using tax payer dollars to euthanize family pets that are completely innocent. Personally I think a better way to think of it is an animal rights bill that would in turn protect the breed have it to where crimes committed by a person who has trained an animal to do harm on command who does not have the proper paper work and training to handle said dog will face penalty and have it where breed of dog is relative to penalties pitbulls german shepards dobermans and rottweilers will be considered a higher offense like a misdemeanor to a felony its not the animals fault for being trained to be aggressive its the human that trained it that way and ill say ive had pitbulls since i was 14 years old and would let me 2 year old walk my current one on a leash without a worry in the world but its not realistic and maybe even unconstitutional to serve search warrant on american familys to ultimately euthanize a member of their family but you can punish the people who buy a puppy with the goal to make it so mean that it would take a human life
Absolutely Not.
