Kid shows, Like Cocomelon, has maximum saturation that is appeals to children way too much to the point where children are addicted to it. The reason behind it is because maximum saturation is exciting, especially if it’s also having primary colors as the main parts of a show because primary colors mixed with maximum saturation extremely worse than just max saturation. Mark Travers stated, “the overstimulating nature of television—characterized by flashing, colored, fluorescent images and poor-quality sound reproduction—can overwhelm the sensory organs, leading to disruptions in their development and function.” (Travers paragraph 11). From this statement, I can infer that shows with bright colors can terrorize a child’s evolution. Rapid screen cuts, usually used in short form social media, has a quickness affect within children. It is a part of the reason why teens love TikTok so much since frames switch every scroll. Kid shows, like Cocomelon overuses the way children work with repeating words like “yes yes yes”, “no no no”, and “yay yay yay”. These repeating words could affect children with speech delay way more than normal screen time speech delay and can even teach kids to do the opposite of what you want as stated in SunnyV2’s video “People have argued that they’re teaching exactly what children shouldn’t do.” (SunnyV2 ‘2:11’). This statement shows how TV shows like these don’t care if children do bad from this. In conclusion, kid shows that have a high amount of saturation fast screen cuts, and repeating words should be banned. some say that any type of screen time is bad, but these types of kid show make it bad to worse.
