We're off to an exciting start!

Are we supplied more votes at any point?

@Eamon on the web interface (chrome) in the left hand menu there is “My Posts”. That will take you to a tab where you can view your policies (any you’ve created), your replies to policies, and other useful views.

@Aworldanew25 I had limited posts the first half day, but have had more available since. Not sure what triggers the “more available”, maybe doing some of the tasks / earning badges for things like reading the rules, posting a new policy, etc? Check your messages (click your personal icon) to see your messages and badges.

My handicap right now, is that I max-out my Edits while I work on stuff, so then I am stalled while trying to polish things up or if I realize I want to re-write something. I don’t totally grasp why there is an Edits count. Working around this is buzzkill, because it just feels like I should have infinite Edits, at least on my own policy. Ultimately for me this platform becomes a creative process.

Rephrasing this: The Edits-Limit is currently a hiccup for my consolidation efforts. As I am trying to group-together (crowd-source) similar policies, or policies pertaining to different facets of the same issue,(to generate a dialed-in conversation) hitting the maximum edits becomes inconvenient. Thank you. :sparkles:

Please consider voting for our policy to protect the US Retail Sector and all of the jobs and economic activity within and supporting it!

We need a “Vote Against” button. A topic might be extremely popular in terms of activity, but I don’t have a great way of understanding how much of that is opposition.

Thanks for this suggestion @Tkoband. We’ve added the ability to ‘dislike’ a post. This reaction won’t be counted towards ‘likes’ which contributes to the trending score.

Elegant stuff here :pray:t2:

If I can suggest something, you may need to tweak how content is weighted

Trouble is right now, the popular stuff keeps getting more & more people, which takes away from some of the newer & good ideas

It’s somewhat like the Twitter posters with a ton of followers, they just keep getting bigger while new users with good thoughts just never get a chance

You end up getting this cyclic boost on the first few entries

One more suggestion: the ability to combine multiple posts

Take for example posts about “citizens united”, which are splitting up votes

Would be nice if there was an option to suggest that 2 posted policies be combined, and with enough agreement that they are the same (and/or administrative approval), they get combined & votes aggregated

FWIW I’m a software engineer, I can help out

We’re working on this actively. The capability is there, we’re just working out the best way to manage this from a community and moderation perspective. More on this soon. Thanks Marcos!

A solution like this is in the works. It will take some time to develop correctly but we see the need for both consolidation and actionability (i.e. formal bills). This will come in time!

If you have specific ideas about the platform (not a policy idea), post them to Feedback and our team will review

I love the idea of posts that able to be edited by multiple users. This can facilitate our teaming-up and promote the ability to collaborate.

Yeah! What he said!

I do to, but we need to keep in mind that the purpose is not 1000 monkeys with typewriters… it is to build structured policies that hopefully do NOT have “unintended consequences” attached. TOO many times I see policies enacted by “officials” who have zero experience in a subject, but their intern “googled” something and went with the first hit on the page… Lets do this well and right!

This is the most one of a kind great tool for the America people to really feel like their voices can be heard and has a lot of momentum right now!

A couple of questions…

Based on other experiences, lack of action will amount to downward momentum. What is the plan this platform has in order to start making changes based on the people’s voice? How many votes does a policy need in order to make its way to the “let’s do this!” bucket?

Once a post meets that requirement I might suggest moving the topic to a different category for serious thought to put it in action.

Additionally, because many people keep motivated by seeing their ideas come to life, a way to promote the site as the driver for the change would be very beneficial to the cause!

Edit:
I’d also suggest a separate forum where someone can ask a question pertaining to some laws they may not be familiar with and get a SME’s interpretation like “what does this law do” or “how is this law interpreted” Just a separate place for people to ask questions to become more informed.

I am going to beat one of the mods to it and repost the response to this information…

Thanks @Stig and @Mainwar! We are working actively on solutions to allow for policies to grow, merge & mature. I posted a response earlier to a similar idea:

And yes, it will be helpful to curate new ideas on the Feedback channel in the future. But your points are well taken :+1:

Well… I don’t want people editing my stuff
I said what I said, and that’s what I meant to say

Have you ever been in a Wiki War? Where someone edits the wiki, then their opponent changes it, and the first person goes and puts it back the way it was, and then each side recruits a team of people to watch and re-re-re-edit the same thing to suit their side. :exploding_head:

Exhausting, huge time sink, and ultimately never arriving at anything other than continuous squabling.

Collaboration is going to be hugely important, but letting folks just edit and overwrite what’s there isn’t going to get us there. Let’s do the work together.
