Add “proof of citizenship.”
Biden requires all agencies register people to vote without proof of citizenship.
We should finish expanding Real ID to ensure everyone voting has been vetted as a US Citizen. Implement a policy for low income individual to access free or reduced licensing fees to ensure every citizen is financially able to get a Real ID.
Non citizens can get state ID, and anyone with a state ID can vote
So how does this make sense??
NON US CITIZENS VOTING IN THE US?
What other countries allow this?
This cannot be permitted
Check out this proposal:
I am an election worker at a county lever, directly under the Election Commissioner. The state that I work in has voter ID laws wit a provisional ballot process. Our process works wonderfully.
I also do not live in the same state in which I work. My state just passed a voter ID law. And it is garbage. To not mince words.
The state that work, has restriction on how expired my voter ID can be. The state in which I live has no restrictions on how long my voter ID can be expired. The state in which I live also doesn’t collect expire Driver’s Licenses. Meaning I could have moved across the river to the state in which I work, gotten a new valid driver’s license from that state but still have in possession an expired Driver’s License and use that vote in my old (in this scenario).
I have been very vocal about this with my state’s Secretary of States Office. With every single member of my state legislature, who passed through the awful bill, with explanation as to why they wrote the bill they way did and also why people voted on it.
Voter ID is wonderful when done right. It enhances security and integrity with voters. I have seen first hand. There will always be naysayers that complain about and that fine that is their right. I respond back with the fact that the state’s voter turnout has only increased each year that the voter ID was passed. Which is true.
This should only be for federal elections. States should be able to decide how they want their own states to be run (I’m a big fan of state’s rights).
Why do we even have to discuss this? What is wrong with common sense?
For Federal elections - Federal rules.
Can we take a serious look into how we can utilize Blockchain technology to run our election?
By design blockchain will be decentralized and always hold a true ledger, through verification each Valid US citizen would be issued a voter token, this will then be sent to the candidate of their choosing which would be used in our current electoral process. The ledger is visible to all to view and observe live. With multiple decentralized system running the ledger ensuring there is never a change.
Here are some other potential benefits:
- Combat voter fraud.
- Boost turnout.
- Maintain transparency in elections.
- Reduce costs.
- Make the vote counting process faster and more accurate.
- Ensure every vote is counted.

Blockchain isn’t perfect, but I think it should be seriously considered to see if it would be a valuable option in future elections. I know some states/cities have adopted it with success. No matter what side you are voting for we as Americans should strive for a fair and secure election in order to maintain confidence in our process of electing our president!
Maybe a birth certificate or proof of residency?
Yes it would since the individual states control and are responsible for their own voting . I think people should have ID to vote. But hesitant to give the federal government more power over the states. With that said, I do think all states should have voter ID.
I recently (9/26) moved from Texas to NC. I placed my address change online with USPS prior to the move and requested it to also change my voter status from TX to NC. However, when checking my status online with NC, there is no record of my registration. Tomorrow is the last day to register in NC, but with my current ID being TX, I fear I will not be able to vote. The last two weeks have severely impacted the ability to go to DMV due to no power/water/comms - most everything shut down. To have to register 60 days ahead would make it impossible for someone like myself.
Disregard. Was replying to a commenter, not policy suggestion.
As each ballot slip is collected the official checks the name of the person by drawing a line on the voters sheet. This record can be used to verify no person has double voted. As I normally vote the day of election I have only a vague recollection of the postal process. However the same check applies. The outer envelope has the voter id information and is used to check the voter off the voter role to prevent double voting. The inner envelope contains the vote and is presumably placed in a box with other postal votes.
In Australia it is compulsory to vote with a fine of less than $100 Aus for failure to comply. (You don’t have to register to vote and unregistered voters don’t get fined). As a result we get ~96% of the population voting! That’s democracy.
Here is my 2 cents:
I dont think we should tie voting to SS#.
I think providing 2 forms of ID (photo ID and birth cert or naturalization paperwork to verify citizenship) prior to voting is a must.
Submission of mail in ballots could include an upload of supporting ID from your phone tied to the QR code on the ballot.
60 day prior to election, voter verification should be checked against voter roles through mail where user must upload 2 forms of ID against the qr code on the role verification notice.
New registrations must be completed/citizenship verified 30 days prior to election for a citizen to vote.
If someone moves then they should be removed from the roles of the previous state within 2 months of moving, not 2 yrs.
We need the death sentence for voter fraud.
Be sure and notify the RNC chair for AZ of the situation. At the least this alerts them to an avenue of potential fraud that they could monitor.
I live in Mississippi, my husband is an election commissioner for our county. Mississippi already has most of these points in place. I don’t agree with the same day registering, simply because it would add chaos to the voting day. Also, we are required to have a photo id but I don’t think the government issued part is on there. We vote paper ballots that are then fed into a machine at the precinct.
The biggest part of ensuring fair elections is the purging of voter rolls- when someone dies or moves out of state they are removed in a timely manner.
Our mail in ballots are absentee ballots- there has to be proof the individual is unable to vote in person at the polls and why.
if you have time to show up at a poll, you have time to show up at the DMV to get a photo id. If its that important to vote, then you should have that photo id.
