What many people do not understand is that we as a nation went for quite a while successfully living before any taxes were ever introduced. Yes, there are government programs that require funding, but unfortunately, most of our tax dollars get sent to other countries or projects that most Americans would not agree to fund otherwise. there’s a much better way of funding projects that benefit “We the people” then forcing us to continue to pay over and over for something we already own so that politicians can use our money at their pleasure for projects. We would not otherwise agree to.

This is local issues for city, county and state politicians. Don’t forget to be involved with school board elections as well. School systems can drain budgets very quickly. Fiscal responsibility is needed all around

At least regulate them. Property taxes can be raised by however much the government feels like and no one knows what it will be. Blackro…I mean the government can just decide to price you out of your home at any time.

When your house is paid for and your retirement age, it is so disheartening when you get that huge tax bill in the mail every year. We have definitely paid more than our fair share of taxes by this point in our lives.

According to law you do not have to pay land taxes. What you must do is bring forward the original land patent that was issued by the government. This is an allodial title, you need to start with finding the meets and bounds of your original land patent. You will find it on your title or on your assessor’s. I agree that this is not a federal issue but states are not very likely to even have a dialogue concerning any type of reduction in property tax revenue. I think asking the federal government to be involved in setting some guidelines and providing some incentives may get a conversation started. A end of property taxes, especially to seniors on fixed incomes. Is a good idea but its going to take some careful approaches to regulating the process.

I complain about not ever owning my own home. I understand the need, but there should at least be an option to make a one-time payment (say 10-20% of the value of the home), that allows a home-owner never to pay them again. I would be willing to finance that to finally feel like I own my home.

So you see that the problem is primarily that the government spends too much. Cut that down to a reasonable level and then whatever taxation is left would seem reasonable

You don’t spend thousands of dollars every year on your property. You spend it on whatever the state and local governments decide you are spending it on. Your portion of that bill is merely determined by your property’s value.
